Mission Statement

The mission of the Sandy Hook Pilots’ Charitable Foundation is to serve those needful within the local community on Staten Island, New York, as well as to serve those needful within the maritime industry that support the Port of New York and New Jersey.

The Sandy Hook Pilots launched the Sandy Hook Pilots’ Charitable Foundation in 2021 in honor of our late partner, Timothy M. Murray. Tim was a passionate advocate for community involvement, both locally and within the maritime industry. This Foundation is dedicated to carrying forward his legacy of generosity.

Through the collective efforts of individual Sandy Hook Pilots, both active and retired, the Foundation channels donations and resources to organizations making a positive difference. Our work spans a broad range of initiatives—from assisting neighbors on Staten Island to supporting programs vital to the Port of New York and New Jersey.

We collaborate with local leaders to identify impactful community programs, seek guidance from maritime partners on areas needing greater support, and champion initiatives close to the hearts of our members.
